Answers for the middle of service

The restaurant POS help center has short, step-by-step guides for the things owners and managers do every week: menus and modifiers, printers and kitchen screens, tips, split checks, taxes and reports. Each guide starts with the answer, then the steps. If you are stuck mid-service, start with the quick fixes.

What can I find in the help center?

Guides for setup, menus and modifiers, tables and floor plans, kitchen screens and printers, coursing, tips and tip pooling, split checks, taxes and receipts, staff and roles, the online store and reports. Each guide is short, starts with the answer, and lists the steps in order with the exact screen names.

Guides are grouped the way a restaurant runs: before service, during service and after close. Setup guides help you build the system. Service guides help when something goes wrong mid-rush. Close guides cover tips, cash and reports. Search for the word you would say out loud, like "86", "split" or "printer". Results show the most likely guide first.

If a guide does not solve it, contact support from inside your account so we can see which location and register you mean. If a guide does not solve it, contact support from inside your account so we can see which location and register you mean. Add a short description and a photo of the screen if you can. Clear details get you a faster fix.

  • Before service: setup and menus
  • During service: printers, screens, checks
  • After close: tips, cash, reports

What should I check first when a printer stops mid-service?

Check paper, power and cable first, then whether the printer is online on the network. Print a test page from the printer settings. If the kitchen printer is down, route its station to another printer or the kitchen screen so tickets keep flowing while you fix it. Contact support if it stays offline.

Most printer stops are simple: an empty roll, a loose cable or a printer that lost its network address after a power cut. Turn it off and on, wait a minute, and print a test page. Do not let tickets pile up while you troubleshoot. Changing a station's route takes seconds and keeps the line cooking.

After service, give network printers a fixed address so they keep the same one after a restart. The help guide shows how, step by step. Also keep a spare roll of paper and a spare cable at every station, so the simple fixes take seconds. Write the printer's address on a label stuck to its side, so anyone can find it.

How do I 86 an item during service?
POS Studio

Mark the product as sold out or set its stock to zero from the POS or back office. It stops appearing for servers and disappears from the online store. Switch it back when the item is available again.

How do I void an item that was already fired?
POS Studio

Open the order, select the item and choose void, with a reason. Your role must allow voids. The kitchen screen or printer shows the void so the cook stops the item.

How do I reprint a kitchen ticket?
POS Studio

Open the order and choose reprint for the kitchen. The ticket prints again at the station it routes to. Use it when a ticket is lost or splashed.

How do I move a table to another server?
POS Studio

Open the table, choose the staff option and pick the new server. Use staff replacement when a shift changes. Tips and sales follow the server on each line as you set them.

Where do I find the end-of-day tip report?
POS Studio

Open Reports and choose the tips report for the day. It shows card tips and declared cash tips per server and the tip pool split. Export it if your bookkeeper needs a copy.

How do I change a tax rate?
POS Studio

Go to tax settings, edit the rate and save. Items using that rate or tax group update for new sales. Past sales keep the tax they were rung with.

How do I add a new staff member before tonight's shift?
POS Studio

Add a user, set their role and location, and give them a PIN. They can choose their interface language on first login. It takes a few minutes.

How do I contact support from the POS?
POS Studio

Use the support option inside your account, so we know your business, location and register. Describe what you see and what you expected. Add a screenshot if you can.
