Tips, tax and tickets, counted the American way:a restaurant POS system for the USA
Restaurant POS Studio runs table service for independent US restaurants. Prices show before sales tax, cards run through your own processor, tips and tip pools are tracked per server, and your kitchen can read tickets in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese.
Menu prices exclude sales tax. Tax is added on the check at your combined state and local rate.

How does the POS handle US sales tax?
You set your combined sales tax rate once per location, and the POS adds it to every check. If your area has a state part and a city or district part, build them as a tax group so reports show each part. Menu prices stay tax-exclusive, the way US guests expect to read them.
Sales tax in the US is set by states, counties, cities and special districts, so two locations in the same metro can have different rates. Restaurant POS Studio lets each location carry its own rate or tax group. Check your rate with your state's tax department or your accountant, then type it in Settings.
Some items may be taxed differently, for example packaged goods to go in some states. You can give a product its own tax rate. The tax report splits taxable and non-taxable sales by day, so filing time is a matter of reading one screen.

Can it track tips and tip pools under US rules?
Yes. Card tips are recorded on each check, servers declare cash tips at close, and you can pool tips by role points or by hours worked. The close-of-day tip report shows what each person earned. Federal law does not let owners or managers keep employee tips, so the report keeps them out.
Tipping is part of nearly every American check, and tip disputes are one of the fastest ways to lose a good server. The POS ties every tip to the server who closed the check, including split checks paid by several guests with different cards.
If you run a pool, you set the points per role or let hours from the time clock decide the share. State rules on tip credits and back-of-house pooling differ, so confirm your pool design with your state labor department or a payroll advisor before the first payout.

Do I have to change my card processor?
No. Restaurant POS Studio works with your card processor, so you can keep the rate you negotiated. We do not process cards and we charge no PCI or statement fees. When you use an integrated processor terminal, card data stays with your processor and never touches our servers.
Many US owners start shopping for a new POS because a processor raised their rate or a contract is ending. Keeping the processor separate from the POS means you can switch either one without losing the other.
Apple Pay and Google Pay run through the same processor terminal. Cash, gift cards and several payment methods on one bill are recorded in the POS, so the register report matches your bank deposit.

Can my kitchen staff use it in their own language?
Yes. Each user picks an interface language, and we set up English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. A server can ring in an order in English while the line reads it in Spanish. Receipts and kitchen tickets can carry the labels your team reads best.
Many US restaurants are run by first-generation owners, and many kitchens speak a language other than English. A ticket the cook cannot read is a ticket that comes back wrong.
Product names can be translated, and modifiers with allergy flags print in bold so they stand out in any language. Our menu build team can enter a Spanish, Chinese, Korean or Vietnamese menu for you when you switch.

Does the POS file my sales tax for me?
POS Studio
No, it gives you the numbers to file. The tax report shows taxable sales, non-taxable sales and tax collected by day, location and rate. Your accountant or your state's online filing uses those totals. Keeping filing separate means you stay in control of what is submitted.
Can I use it in more than one state?
POS Studio
Yes. Each location has its own tax rate or tax group, time zone and receipt layout. A group in Texas and California can run both from one account. Central reports show sales across all locations or one at a time.
Will it work with the receipt printer I already have?
POS Studio
Most likely, if it is an ESC/POS printer on USB or the network. Most common thermal receipt and kitchen printers use ESC/POS. Cash drawers that open from the printer also work. Send us the model before you switch and we will confirm.
Can it handle tip-outs to bussers and bartenders?
POS Studio
Yes, through tip pooling by role points or hours. You give each role its share, and the close-of-day report shows each person's amount. Check your state's rules on who may join a pool, especially if you take a tip credit.
Do I need to sign a contract?
POS Studio
No. Plans are month to month, and you can cancel in Settings. Annual billing is available at about 15% off if you prefer to pay once a year. After cancellation your account stays readable for 30 days so you can export your data.
Can my Spanish-speaking cooks and my English-speaking servers use it together?
POS Studio
Yes. Language is set per user, not per restaurant. The server sees English, the cook sees Spanish, and the order is the same order. Product names can carry translations so the ticket matches what the line calls the dish.
Does it accept SNAP or EBT?
POS Studio
Only if your card processor supports it on your terminal. Restaurant POS Studio records the payment, but approval and processing happen with your processor. Most full-service restaurants are not in the SNAP restaurant program, so check eligibility first.
How fast can I go live before a busy weekend?
POS Studio
Many owners take a test order the same afternoon they sign up. Adding your menu is the longest step, and we import it for free when you switch. Plan a quiet weeknight for staff training before your first Friday on the new system.
